2004 - Cape Point & Smitswinkel : December Holiday continued
Cape Point forms part of Table Mountain National Park and is very scenic ,it runs for 30km to form the most extreme south-western tip of Africa.
Cape Point is often mistakenly claimed to be the place where the cold Benguela Current of the Atlantic Ocean and the warm Agulhas Current of the Indian Ocean collide. In fact, the meeting point fluctuates along the southern and southwestern Cape coast, usually occurring between Cape Agulhas and Cape Point.
The baboons are ill mannered so I advise that anything that looks edible should not be carried out of the restaurant / cafe. My sister found out the hard way; a baboon hijacked her popcorn as we stepped out of the restaurant.
Our journey continued past Smitswinkel - A unique, untoutched little village following Cape Point.
Smitswinkel have no access road or electricity and is a great spot for diving - shipwrecks at ± 40meters.
