2004 - Kalk Bay & Fish Hoek : December Holiday continued

Fish Hoek was our next stop. Fish Hoek or Vissers Baay or Visch Hoek appears on the earliest maps of the Cape and was used on an informal basis for whaling and fishing until 1918.

After Fish Hoek we stopped at Kalk Bay - A literal translation from the Dutch/Afrikaans name "Kalkbaai" is "Chalk Bay" but it may well be that the original meaning was more closely related either to "calk" or "lime".We refreshed at the Brass Bell which is located on the train station in Kalk Bay - a restaurant worth mentioning : The Brass Bell terraces is surrounded by a series of tidal pools and the atmosphere is always welcoming.
