2005 - Stellenbosch : Jokershoek Nature Reserve
I love the Cape, I moved to the Cape in 2001 and I have not looked back since. There are so many things that are keeping me here that I haven’t really thought of living anywhere else.
The Cape offers some of the best adventurous activities in the world. Since moving here I've done most of the hiking trails that’s mapped and some unmapped.Table Mountain, Constantia and Cape Point have many and I've probably completed 95% of all the trails.
Moving to the Winelands / Falsebay refreshed the exploration. Some of the best and beautiful areas to hike are situated in Stellenbosch and Franschoek .It’s just mountains and green vegetation everywhere - Perfect !
One of the trails that I enjoyed the most was the Swartboskloof Trail in the Jonkershoek nature reserve.
Swartboskloof Trail details and some photos taken during the hike :
Trail Distance: 18,4km (6-8 hours)
Nearest Town: Stellenbosch
Region: Boland
Trail description:
This moderate out and back trail leads via Kurktrekkernek to Witbrug. It starts with a steep 4,5km ascent, then levels along the top section. It is followed by a steep 2,6km descent, down Kurktrekker to the Waterfall route. It offers phenomenal views.
Explore a variety of shorter trails that branch off from this route. It may be inaccessible after heavy rains. Remember to carry water with you.
