  • You're genuinely and pleasantly surprised whenever you find your car parked where you left it

2006 – Sanbona, Outeniqua & Wilderness: May break - Updated

I usually take a break to go and visit the family in Wilderness. The Garden route is a paradise and anyone lucky enough to stay there will vouch it.I flew my sister down to assist as my road trip sidekick.

The N2 is the fastest route to get there from Cape Town but I decided to visit a friend close to Montague and stay over at Sanbona for a couple of days. I’m very fortunate to have a friend that’s one of the rangers at the wildlife reserve.

We had a great time - watching game, catching up on good old days, bonfires and Eland fillets sizzling on the fire. Sanbona is one of the few places in Africa where one can see wild white lions.

After the visit at Sanbona the journey continued through the Klein Karoo to the Outeniqua Pass and finally George / Wilderness. My aunt and uncle recently opened a great restaurant in Wilderness called Track 29.They renovated the Wilderness train station into a cozy restaurant serving the best breakfast and sumptuous 5 course dinners.

So if you ever find yourself in Wilderness, be sure to visit them @ Track29.
